The In-Between

Right now, I am residing in a place called "The In-Between."  The snow has started to fly and I've got a few days of skiing under my feet.  My dry-land has started to perk up, thanks Tanner, and I'm starting to build excitement for the first races of the season.

Except the first World Cup of the season is still over two months away.  That realization lands like a gut punch from Mike Tyson.  The in-between that difficult stretch when you're more than half way, but only just so.

Training full time, while also working 40 hours a week is manageable when there is a glimmering light at the end of the tunnel.  The trouble arises when you can see the light, but you can also see that the tunnel is a lot longer than it appears.  Ski, work, train, eat, sleep, work some more, repeat.  It's not an easy process.

Thankfully, I've brought along my tunnel choppers; two more days until camp 3, after than, two weeks until camp 4 (AND MY PARENTS!!), after that only a few days until the first unofficial competition, then 2 weeks until Christmas holiday, then a week to the first FIS race, and finally a few weeks after that, the World Cup opener.

Bit by bit, bite off a chunk and chew away.  Before you know it the meal is gone and you're hungry for what comes next.
